CODEX Zrt. was established on the 30th September 1988 by Hungarian institutional investors. As a result of a buyout process, CODEX Rt. shares were passed from the founding institutional investors to the management ownership, thereby continuing and increasing management’s commitment in 1993. All owners of the company are Hungarian natural persons and the Board members jointly own nearly 92 % of the Company. The Company started manufacturing conventional printed products. Having recognized the market possibilities, we added the manufacturing of securities to our printing business. We are proud that CODEX was the first company in Hungary to receive a license to produce other securities. Later we implemented a significant capital project to launch the production of self-adhesive ECL® labels (i.e. extendable content labels or “Smart” labels) for the first time in Hungary in 2006. Combined with our previous developments, this paved the way for further innovation. We began to develop unique technical solutions and label structures based on the needs of our customers. In Hungary CODEX is a market leader in the production of special printing products.
